To make these textil Spiral jewels I use GOTS certified organic peace silk.
Peace silk or Ahimsa silk is cruelty-free and has all the marvelous quality of its conventional counterpart, minus the violence. This way, these jewels can be both beautiful and ethical!
I start by first hand-painting this fabric and then I roll it up with re-used paper. Lastly, I bake in the oven for 5 hours in a mixture of vinegar and water, which then turns into steam. This method fixes the colors and is applied using electricity from renewable sources. The fabric is then air-dried outdoors. Finally, it is time to cut the fabric in strips, which are then rolled up by hand and attached to the bases.
My spiral jewelry line, like all of my creations, is ethically handmade in Ischia, Italy.
BASE: Lead Free, Cadmium Free and Nickel Free, Platinum Color, Size Tray: 14mm inner diameter. ROHS
Included in the purchase you will have a gift box consisting of a reusable artisan bag signed by hand with my logo. A card with handwritten descriptions of the material and applied techniques and a leaflet that talks about my processing techniques, my materials and my philosophy.
Instructions for use: avoid exposing the spiral jewels to water, because if they get wet the spiral could detach from the base. If this happens, scratch or puncture the base to create points that the glue can latch on to. After that, you can glue the spiral to the base again.
